Bone Thugs, Akon, Swizz Beatz Sued Over "I Tried" PDF Print E-mail

Popular Hip-Hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, producer Swizz Beatz and R&B singer Akon have been hit with a lawsuit by a Texas-based music publisher. Songster, which is located in Fort Worth, Texas, filed the lawsuit in the Central District of California yesterday (July 14).

The company claims the Bone Thug's lead single from their 2007 album Strength and Loyalty illegally lifted portions of the 1978 track "When The Day Will Come (aka KRSNA)" by group Rasa.

The lawsuit lists a variety of Hip-Hop artists who have sampled chanting from the song, which has been incorporated into tracks by KRS-One ("Beef"), Black Rob ("Can I Live"), Common ("Take It Easy") and others with permission.

Songster also names Akon, the track's producer, Swizz Beatz, owner of the Full Surface record label, Interscope Records, Sony A.T.V. Publishing and Universal Music Group in the lawsuit.

Songster claims they notified each defendant in writing about the infringement, but the album and song was still sold as physical CD's and digital downloads.

Songster seeks to take the case to trial, to determine the amount of damages the original producer and songwriter of "Everything You See is Me" are entitled to.

They are also demanding all profits earned from the sales of Bone Thug's track, in addition to removing any CD's containing the track from being sold through physical and digital stores.

ofcourse they got money or they wouldnt be able to afford to take them to court. if you use a sample, pay for it. its not like these artists aren't makin enough money anyhow.

How you gonna diss a group that paved the way for all the fags who stole their style and who dumbass wannabe's rockin a hat tilted to whatever side their lazy eye floats to first now think are the best rappers alive. It's called respect... otherwise fags like lil gayne, florida, t.i., 50 cent, and whatever flavor of the month is on mtv or your radio station would be lucky to be workin at Mcdonalds for minimum wage.

The song in question sounds nothing like I tried, and even if you sample something, all you have to do as a producer is change 30 percent of the beat to be able to call it yours... Swiss beats aint stupid and Bone's been doin this shit for too long to slip like that... just some dumb ass tryin to make a dollar off someone else again.

Bone is Tha Best. None of these motherfuckers in the game now can touch their shit. If it wasnt for them they wouldnt even be here. If it wasnt for Bone there could possibly still be an East Vs. West coast thing goin on. People just tryin to stop the greatest comback of all time. So people like Little Wayne who is the worst rapper in history can stay on top by purchasing his lyrics from somebody else. Which keeps more money in the biz. Originators is what we need and that is what Bone is and always was. Nobody can EVER touch them
