T-Pain: 'I Didn't See Myself Making It Past The First Album' PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 27 December 2008 18:51
Nobody believed T-Pain would be around this long, even him. The Florida crooner recently revealed that he received so much hate at the beginning of his career that he didn’t see foresee his current success.
"I didn’t even see myself making it past the first album," explained T-Pain. "The amount of hate I was getting for it; just seeing how people didn’t really accept me at first. It was weird. I thought I was going to sell a quick 200,000 and be out the game.’’

Fortunately for T-Pain, he continues to gain success as everybody in the music industry has worked with him or has plans too. He expects to collaborate with country singer Tim McGraw and is assisting Sean 'Diddy' Combs on his upcoming album.

Despite the success, T-Pain is not impressed by people copying his style and failing to give him respect for reviving the auto-tune which was made popular in the 80's by Roger Troutman.

"I don’t understand why the most hated-on artist is being the most copied," T-Pain said. "Why can’t they just own up to what I’ve done for this industry?"

"I’ve heard people come out with the sound and take credit," he added " Then I’m like, ‘Dang, have you been away from society and not listening to the radio for a year?’ But those are the sam e people who want to make music with me.’

T-Pain is currently on a North American tour with Lil Wayne. The duo plan on releasing a collaborative album in the coming months.

Roger Troutman = Vocodor Talk Box....NOT AUTO TUNE
written by B Mc-C, December 28, 2008
I really hate people getting this confused. Even this article did. Roger Troutman used a talk box which is basically a little tube that is hooked up to a synthesizer and it is much harder to do then use auto tune because you basically have to play the notes that you want to sing in with the keyboard. I really wish people would stop comparing T-Pain to Roger Troutman and realize that they are totally different.

Hate isn't always hate.
written by parkside701, December 29, 2008
I swear the word "hate and hata's" are used way too gratuitously in hip-hop. Yeah there are sometimes hate thrown around without any justification but sometime hate isn't hate and sometimes it is justified.

And lets be honest, we all hate. I mean hate is rampant in the music industry. Rappers bitch and moan more then women suffering from pms.

At least even T-Pain recognizes he's garbage. And T-Pain aint Hip Hop, he makes pop music. Hip Hop will be lost forever until we can distinguish between the two

Auto Tune = Garbage
written by DJ BALL, December 30, 2008
Auto Tune will go down in history in the Top 5 for killing hip hop.
The fact that all these clowns is using that shit disgusts me.

Tired of reading these bitchy comments
written by Killahkels, December 30, 2008
Look the auto-tune is simply and vocal effect. It doesn't matter if its used or not i think people like the hooks that T-pain, Lil wayne, and Kanye write with it. whether its rock, pop, rap, or r&b doesnt matter either listen to what you fucking like and let other people listen to what they like hiphop is music music cannot die it will be here forever. Everybody who has a problem with T-pain just put your headphones on and ignore him How the genre of music that's supposed to be the most DIVERSE become the most close minded. Everybody dont wanna rap like Talib or sing like Brian mcknight. Damn!

Have yall ever listened to Pain? The man, writes, produces and sings everything on his albums, hes got talent aint no doubt about it, and when he does rap hes tighter than half the niggas in the game that yall claim to be some of the best. I think Pain is bringing the hip hop industry back up to where it needs to be, its all the same shit over and over and over, he switched it up and now all the other niggas is mad because they gotta try and keep up with this nigga.

all yall haters need to get your s#%t together
written by dont worry about it., January 01, 2009
the way I see it is thatif anyone is hatin, its not because the musicis bad. Eveyone is entitled to thier own opinion, but if you think that all these records that your local cities radio station continue to put in rotation are bad, you need to find a new hobby because you apparantly just dont like music. If you cant say anything posative about thesen rappers colaborating with R&B artist to show enough skill to make you want to see how the rest of thier album sounds, then you really shoukd just keep your mouth shut. Its rediculous mto hate on someone because they made a radio friendly track on an album that is altogether some underground, hard s!$t you have proven that you are as stupid as you sound. When you find a means to make more money whether it be in the streets or in the classroom, you would be stupid not to take advantage. On top of all that I have said, in order to become sucessful in the music industry, you have to sign a contract and in most cases the music will be dictated to put out radio friendly single before they will allow the album to be a wrap. Its a business, its not personal, STOP HATING, IDIOTS

only reason to hate on pain is to hate on his style,, which is gettin played-out ever so quick. i understand that t-pain is brilliant and has talent to make a COMMERCIAL ((not like most artists want it any other way)) hit-collabo with another hot artist,, but have any of you been listenin to these no-names with just a simple t-pain/akon whatever on the hook?? and no mean to hate on these "no-names" i give it to them for reachin that point in a record,, but ive heard a shitload of garbage with A-list artists like pain or akon on the chorus and thats a good reason why you got niggas hatin on the vocoder-style

freal man talent is art that comes in suprising forms,, but when you sellin it out to these nobodies that are under labels willin to shell out extra chump change then you must not even respect your work that much to hand it around like that.
